Exhaustion Arroyo: Dancin' Trees in the Ravine was commissioned by In the Margin and B Street Theatre for the New American Theatre Festival in 2021. It has since been selected for a reading in the Latinx Theatre Commons 2022 Comedy Carnaval, published by Duke University Press in Volume 53 of Theater, adapted into a short animation, and produced in San Francisco with Cutting Ball Theatre 2023.
The spanglish show follows group of friends wonder into the wood in the Santa Cruz mountains and do shrooms. Taki, Chio, and Ape all explore themes of community care, essential workers, inequality and Commedia dell'arte.
This play was primarily conceived, written and developed based on the authors lifes experinces on the Yokuts, Tepehuàn, Awaswas Ohlone, Nisenan, and Miwok ancestral homelands.
Cutting balls production saw rave reviews of the play with people recommending a trip just to see it. The play featured music by the composer Jesse J. Sanchez.
