W. Fran Astorga (they/them) is a queer Latine playwright whose work blends poetic text, physical humor, and bilingual storytelling to explorejoy, labor, and liberation. Raised between Durango, México and California's Central Valley, Fran centers queer and working-class narratives in their plays, often using experimental form and multilingual dialogue to challenge white, heteronormative expectations of theatre.
Their play Exhaustion Arroyo: Dancin' Trees in the Ravine—a surreal eco-comedy about essential workers-was published in Theater Magazine and premiered at Cutting Ball Theater.
Fran's writing has been featured by the Latinx Theatre Commons, Native Writers, HowlRound, and IN THE MARGIN, where they serve as co-founder.
